GitHub has hundreds of free IPTV M3U playlists, but finding ones that work takes time. The iptv-org project sorts live channels by country, language, and category, so I pulled the most useful links into one simple page.
Most of these streams come from unverified sources, so I recommend a VPN such as Surfshark to encrypt your connection and keep your viewing private.
Which Playlist Should You Pick?
| If you want… | Use this |
|---|---|
| Everything in one list | Worldwide |
| Channels from one country | By Country |
| A topic like sports, news or movies | By Category |
| Channels in your language | By Language |
| Nearby countries together | By Region |
| A smaller, cleaner list | Free-TV/IPTV |

Live channels from many countries in one file. It is the easiest place to start, though the long channel list can be hard to scroll.

How to Add a Playlist to IPTV Smarters Pro
These steps work on FireStick, Android TV and other devices that run IPTV Smarters Pro. I use it on a FireStick 4K Max.
Step 1: Open the Surfshark app and connect to any server.
Step 2: Select a device option of your choice.
Step 3: Select the format of your choice: M3U or Xtreme Codes.
Step 4: Enter the login credentials provided by your service provider.
Step 5: Your IPTV Service has been successfully set up.
Step 6: Choose the channel of your choice.
Step 7: Start Streaming!
Tip: If the playlist does not load, paste its URL into our free M3U link checker.

Are GitHub IPTV Playlists Safe and Legal?
A playlist hosted on GitHub is not automatically licensed. The file is just a list of stream URLs, so the broadcaster still needs the rights to share the content.
A VPN encrypts your connection and limits what your ISP can see. It does not make unauthorized streams legal, and it cannot guarantee access to geo-blocked channels. If privacy matters to you, Surfshark is my #1 pick.
Red flags to watch for:
- Premium channels for free. A public link does not prove the stream has permission to be shared.
- Surprise APK downloads. A normal M3U link never asks you to install an unrelated app.
- Copycat repositories. Check the exact account name, the README and where the streams come from.
FAQs
Why are some GitHub M3U links not working?
A channel may have moved, gone offline or become restricted in your region. Refresh the playlist and check the broadcaster’s official stream before trying another source.
Can I watch live sports using GitHub IPTV playlists?
Some playlists include free sports channels, but they do not guarantee premium matches, paid leagues or PPV events.
Do GitHub IPTV playlists include EPG?
Some players can pair playlists with separate EPG (program guide) data. The iptv-org EPG repository provides tools for generating guide data, not an extra live TV playlist.
Do GitHub IPTV playlists include movies on demand?
No. The lists here focus on live TV. A Movies category usually holds scheduled movie channels, not a library you can pick from.
Conclusion: Which GitHub IPTV Playlist Should You Use?
Start with the iptv-org Worldwide playlist. If it is too big, switch to a country, language or category list. For a smaller, curated option, try Free-TV/IPTV.
Free streams can go offline without warning, so refresh your playlist now and then. Use IPTV Smarters Pro or another compatible player, stick to authorized streams, and consider Surfshark for extra privacy. A VPN does not make unauthorized streaming legal.
